Dean Shepard is Picton Mahoney’s Chief Revenue Officer and a member of the Senior Leadership Committee. As an investment industry veteran with over 25 years’ experience, Dean is a tireless advocate for alternative investments in Canada. He represents Picton Mahoney across the investment industry, driving corporate development and partnering with industry associations to raise awareness and provide education about alternative investments. He brings together thought leaders, industry partners and C-suite executives to help investors better understand alternatives.

Dean joined Picton Mahoney in 2006 to head up sales and marketing, about 10 years after successfully launching a boutique investment firm with David Picton. In the early years, he single-handedly managed all sales and marketing activities across both institutional clients and investment advisors. Since then, he has expanded the sales and marketing operation, enabling the firm to grow from a boutique investment firm to one of Canada’s leaders in alternative investments. A firm believer in the importance of portfolio construction, Dean helped to establish the firm’s foundational focus on portfolio construction, which later evolved into the Portfolio Construction Consultation Service.

Dean holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of British Columbia and is a CFA charterholder. He sits on the Member Advisory Panel of the Canadian Association of Alternative Strategies & Assets (CAASA), and is actively involved in the CFA Society of Vancouver’s Speakers Committee. Dean has been a member of the Young Presidents Organization (YPO) since 2009.

Michael is a Managing Director, Head of Retail Business at Picton Mahoney, and a member of the Senior Leadership Committee. With nearly three decades of experience in Canada’s wealth management industry, Michael is at the forefront of innovation in the retail financial market, leading the development of innovative products and services to benefit retail investors. His strategic acumen and exceptional leadership make him a valuable industry spokesperson.

Since joining Picton Mahoney as a Managing Director, Head of Retail Business in 2020, Michael has played a pivotal role in shaping the company’s sales operations and championing service excellence. Prior to that, he has held positions at renowned firms like Iress Canada, Richardson GMP, Macquarie Private Wealth, Merrill Lynch, CIBC Wood Gundy and others. While at Richardson GMP, Michael led the Wealth Management division following the acquisition of Macquarie, where he served 200 wealth professionals and developed integrated wealth service models. At Macquarie, he built a team that contributed to substantial growth in assets under management.

Michael holds an MBA from the Rotman School of Business, University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Arts from Western University. He previously obtained the FCSI (Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute) designation and the CIM (Chartered Investment Manager) certification.

Taylor joined Picton Mahoney Asset Management in April 2022 with a decade of industry experience. His most recent role was District Vice President of Sales at Fidelity Investments. Taylor has a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) from McGill University and is a CFA charterholder.

Bobby comes to Picton Mahoney Asset Management (PMAM) with five years of industry experience. Prior to joining PMAM, he was an Associate at Manulife Investments, as well as held other roles such as Analyst at Scotiabank Global Markets. Bobby has an Honours Bachelor in Business Administration from Richard Ivey School of Business at Western University and has completed the Canadian Securities Course.

Focusing on supporting advisors in Ontario, Henry joined Picton Mahoney Asset Management in January, 2020. Previously, he held roles at TD Wealth Management and RBC Financial Planning. Henry has a Bachelor of Economics degree from McMaster University and holds both the Chartered Investment Manager (CIM) and Personal Financial Planner (PFP) designations.

With a focus on working with our advisors in British Columbia, David joins Picton Mahoney Asset Management with over a decade of industry experience. In his last role, David was an Investment Advisor at Global Maxfin Capital. Prior to that, he held the role of Associate Investment Advisor at Hollis Wealth, Global Wealth Management, Scotiabank. David holds an Honours Bachelor of Finance from York University, and is an IIROC Platform Advisor.

Randy joined Picton Mahoney Asset Management in the fall of 2017 as an Inside Sales Associate. Prior to joining PMAM, Randy spent 17 years at Invesco Canada, serving as a Business Development Manager for 13 of those years. He was also a Marketing Associate at TD Waterhouse Financial Planning. Randy holds a Bachelor of Economics degree from Trent University, and is a Canadian Investment Manager (CIM®).

Aaron has over 20 years of experience in the investment industry, beginning with GT Global in 1994, and including eight years at Synergy Asset Management and four years at Invesco. Aaron brings unique insight to building a robust advisory practice, drawing on his extensive experience in marketing, institutional services, and national accounts. Given his extensive background in asset management, Aaron is adept at partnering with advisors to find the best solutions for meeting their clients’ needs for wealth generation and protection.

Olivier comes to Picton Mahoney Asset Management (PMAM) with nearly a decade of industry experience. Prior to joining PMAM, Olivier served as Regional Director at Russell Investments, and Investment Advisor Associate at Desjardins Securities. Olivier has an MBA from the Goodman Institute of Investment Management and is a CFA charterholder.

Todd comes to Picton Mahoney Asset Management with over two decades of industry experience. Some of his past roles include Senior Vice President at PIMCO Canada, Associate Advisor at RBC Dominion Securities, and Regional Vice President and Business Development Manager at TD Asset Management. Todd has a Bachelor of Arts (Finance & Economics) from the University of Western Ontario and is a CFA charterholder.

Scott is a Partner and Vice President at Picton Mahoney Asset Management. Drawing on over two decades of experience in the industry and Picton Mahoney’s portfolio construction and authentic hedge expertise, Scott works with advisors to implement the best solutions for protecting and growing client wealth. Scott began his investment career at Franklin Templeton Investments in 1995 where he worked in client services, dealer services, and various sales roles before becoming Regional Vice President, Ontario. He holds a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) from the University of Western Ontario and is a Certified Investment Management Analyst® (CIMA®).

Roy comes to Picton Mahoney Asset Management (PMAM) with a focus on working with our French advisors. Prior to joining PMAM, Roy was a Financial Service Representative at CI Investments, and an Accountant Assistant at Solution Impo-Tax Inc. Roy has a Bachelor of Business Administration from the John Molson School of Business and is a CFA charterholder.

Andrew’s 20+ year investment career includes nine years at Standard Life Investments, five years at Raymond James and five years at Credential Securities. He’s held a range of roles, including Investment Advisor, Head of Mutual Fund Research, Head of Portfolio Services, and VP, National Accounts. He joined Picton Mahoney Asset Management in 2012, holds a BA in Economics and Environmental Studies from the University of Victoria and is a Chartered Investment Manager (CIM®).

Dan joined Picton Mahoney Asset Management (PMAM) in October 2022 to partner with advisors across Ontario, and Atlantic Canada. Prior to joining, Dan held previous roles at Dynamic Funds, Russell Investments, and RBC Dominion Securities where he worked closely with advisors and asset managers through various roles and distribution channels. Dan has an Honours Bachelor of Business Administration (Finance) from Wilfrid Laurier University, is a Certified Executor Advisor (CEA®), and is pursuing his Canadian Investment Manager (CIM®) certification.

Katie joined Picton Mahoney Asset Management in early 2022 as National Accounts Associate. Prior to joining us, she worked with Canaccord Genuity as an Investment Advisor. Katie has also demonstrated a proven track record of success across a diverse range of professional fields, including Actuarial Consulting, Aerospace Engineering, and Sustainable Architecture. She studied Business Management and Arts at the University of British Columbia, and carries a Business Operations Management Diploma from the British Columbia Institute of Technology.
